Legend’s Birth

Legend’s due date was September 25th, 2020.

Friday, September 18th @ 3pm I started having contractions. The day before that I got my membranes stripped and was dilated to 3cm. I remember I was over at my moms house on her couch and was SO EXCITED that I felt them because I knew that meant he was on his way! They started to intensify for the next two hours but were still pretty 10 minutes or so apart. Throughout that night they got wayyyy worse to the point I didn’t know if I could take it anymore. I was tracking them until about 6-7am the next morning and was DOOOONE. They were so close together and so intense for hours. We finally get to the hospital and they tell me after all of that I was only dilated to 4-5cm.

FORTY-EIGHT hours of labor

I was devastated. I had a night from hell (literally didn’t sleep for one minute), tried to stay home for as long as I could only to be told I had only progressed 1cm. My contractions were consistent all night long and when I got to the hospital I had 3 in the 4 hours we were there I wanted to cry.

September 19th, we leave the hospital and get home around noon. They start up again like they were the night before. All day long, all night long.. I didn’t know what to do at this point. I didn’t want to be that girl that goes to the hospital every hour but the doctor’s and nurses tell you to come in when the contractions are a minute apart, lasting a minute each for 5 minutes consistently. Mine were a minute apart lasting a minute for 24 hours!!!! I’m on my 2nd night of this, so exhausted- haven’t slept and refused to go back in to be turned away again so I was trying to wait as long as possible.

Finally at 3am my freaking water broke!!!! I was going in and out of the bathtub to try to get relief and right when I laid back down in bed after my 17th bath. I woke Nick up and we rushed to the hospital. The tested me and confirmed it did break. HALLE-FREAKING-LUJAH. 48 hours of labor…

I get my epidural, thank the lord.  Legend arrives 2-3 hours later 🎉
